0101. Warning about the rules

Please follow the rules! To keep everyone safe and comfortable we have strict rules in the community. A person, braking rules, will be removed and permanently blocked. Check the rules here: https://www.english.speaking.club/rules.

0102. Asking to be polite

Be Always polite and show respect to other people independently on their look, age, gender, cultural background, English level or the accent. We all are here to improve our English, discuss interesting topics, and exchange with ideas.

0103. Ladies go first

In a situation when there is a lady & a gentleman willing to speak or comment at the same time, the priority should be given to the lady.

0104. Raise a hand to speak

NOTE: If you want to speak out, open the “Participants” menu -> press “Raise a hand” button, you’ll be noticed & put in the queue to speak.

If you’d like to briefly comment on what the current speaker is talking about, use the “Reactions” button -> choose a waving hand to be noticed immediately, wait for the person to finish their sentence, unmute and jump in saying “Sorry for interrupting, I’d like to comment on”.

0105. Be proactive

NOTE: Don’t wait for the host to invite you to the conversation! Try to be an active self-starter to get your utmost from the meeting.

Use hand raising to be noticed:

1.“Participants” menu -> “Raise a hand” to be put in a queue for speech delivering;

2.“Reactions” button -> choose a waving hand to be noticed immediately for briefly commenting on what is being said by someone.

NOTE: If you're experiencing some technical issues, try to reconnect to the meeting room, check out your web-camera & microphone before you are back; if it won’t help, restart your device and make sure you have stable internet connection.
